Preparing for your first court date
If you have never been in a courtroom before, the first appearance can be intimidating. Knowing what to expect helps.
Dress conservatively. Arrive early. Bring your case documents and a notepad. Address the judge as 'Your Honor.' Do not argue with anyone in the room. Answer questions directly.
Your attorney will guide you through the process. If you do not have one yet, get one before you say anything on the record.
